Senator Muhammad Ubali Shittu was born on January 01, 1960 in Hadeijia Jigawa State. He represents Jigawa North East Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

Shittu attended Government Secondary School Hadeijia where he obtained his West African School Certificate in 1974. He proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration in 1984.
Muhammed Shittu started off in his career immediately after graduation, when he was employed and worked with KMSG Kano, from 1984 to 1991.
He first ventured into politics in 1991, when he contested and won the senatorial seat of Jigawa North East. However the tenure was cut short as the Military continued its intervention in politics until 1999. He was also the Secretary, Hadeijia Local Government in 1991.
He was Administrative Officer to the Kano State Government, as well as the Chairman Governing Council FCE Pankshin.
In the 2015 elections, he contested for a seat of the Jigawa North East senatorial District on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.(APC) and was declared winner.
