Olaka Nwogu

Olaka Nwogu was born on January 26, 1965 in Eleme Rivers state. He was a former Chairman of Eleme Local Government of Rivers State. He initially won the senatorial position to represent Rivers South East Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party but lost in the election re-run to Magnus Abe of the All Progressives Congress following the cancellation of the first election.

Olaka Nwogu Early Life

Nwogu had his primary education in Lagos where he attended LA School Apapa and completed in 1975. After his primary education, he moved back to Port Harcourt where he studied at Stella Maris College and sat for his WASC in 1980. He went to the University of Port Harcourt, graduating with a degree in Marketing in 1985 and thereafter obtained MBA from the same institution in 1989.

Olaka Nwogu Career

Nwogu has had a number of successes in Nigerian politics, he was a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Tai/Eleme/Oyigbo Federal Constituency for 12 years from 1999 to 2011 on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He was also once the chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, this was before he went to House.

In the 2015 elections, Nwogu contested for the seat of the Rivers South East Senatorial District and was declared winner  on the platform of the PDP, however elections for the state was cancelled because of widespread election misconducts and violence that trailed the elections and a rerun was scheduled.

Nwogu could not replicate his success in the re-run, losing to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Magnus Abe. Hence losing out on the senatorial position.

Apart from politics, Nwogu is also a businessman and owns some businesses including Landmark Hotel in D-line and Hinterland Construction Company in Eleme.
