Danbaba Danfulani Suntai was born on June 30th, 1961 in Suntai, Bali local govrnment area, Taraba State, Nigeria.

Suntai attended Federal Government College, Kano between 1975 and 1980, as well as the School of Basic Studies at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria between 1980 and 1981. In 1984, he graduated as a Pharmacist from Ahmadu Bello University.
Suntai was the director-general of the state ministry of Agriculture and National Resources from 1994 to 1996. He was Chairman of Taraba State Investment and Properties Ltd in 2000. In 2001, He was appointed commissioner for Education. He worked at the ministry of Health from 2003 to 2005 before becoming Secretary to the Taraba State Government from 2005 and 2007.
He was sworn in as governor of Taraba State on May 29th, 2007. During his tenure as governor of Taraba State, Danbaba made efforts to fight corruption, crime, and also provided funds to the local government areas. In November 2009, he commissioned a N540 million computerized stone-crushing and asphalt plant to provide road building materials. He was successfully re-elected on April 26th, 2011.
On October 25th, 2012, Suntai was involved in a plane crash near Yola, Adamawa State. He suffered brain injuries and was flown oversea for treatment. He died on June 28th, 2017, in Houston, Texas, United States, aged 56. He was married to Hauwa Danbaba Suntai and had children. One of his daughters, Mariya Danbaba, got married to Shehu Abdullahi on December 11th, 2015.
