Douglas Jack Agu aka Runtown is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer was born on 19 August 1989 in Enugu state in Nigeria.

He moved to Abuja from Lagos when his father died to stay with his mother who was working in the Ministry of Health at the time, finishing up his primary education in Abuja and only moving back to Enugu in 2005 as a result of his mother's evolved interest in politics and finally completing his secondary education there. He went to Fashion School of Technology in New York City to study Fashion Management although his initial plan was to play Professional Basketball.
Runtown in 2007 debuted with the single, “Runtown” which was produced by Soge.
In 2008, he started a record label, Penthauz with Phyno releasing “Activity Pickin” and “Party like its 1980” on this label. In 2010, he released “Forever” with its video directed by IvanEdd and in 2012, Laza Morgan, a Jamaican/American singer featured Runtown on a song titled “High on you” and J Martins featured him on “Tonight”. He also woked with Phyno on his song, "Anamachi Versace", which was produced by WizzyPro
Runtown became a household name after he collaborated with Davido on the song, “Gallardo” on 29 January 2014, the video of this song had more than 8 million views and was directed by Clarence Peters. His career took a leap to stardom after releasing “Successful” and “Domot” under the Eric-Manny Entertainment imprint which was founded by Prince Okwudili Umenyiora, the CEO of Dilly Motors. He got featured on WizzyPro’s “Emergency” on 2 November 2014 alongside Skales and Patoranking.
On November 23, 2015, he released his debut studio album, "Ghetto University" which featured guest appearances from DJ Khaled, Phyno, Wizkid, Uhuru and Anatii and got him listed in the “Top 5 Most Streamed Artist” in Nigeria.
In November 2016, Runtown made it clear he had come to stay with his Dancehall track, “Mad Over You” which was the talk of the town both locally and internationally earning him the No 38 spot on Billboard Twitter Top Tracks and named “Certified Hottest Tune” by BBC Radio 1, making him the first Nigerian Artist to top charts in 20 countries simultaneously. On May 31, 2016, Runtown terminated his contract with Eric Manny Entertainment in what according to him was due to breaches in the recording contract, threat to life and extortion.
In 2017, he released a single “For Life” which once again had 'Runtown and more' written all over it. The artiste who lists his musical influence as American rapper Kanye West, Jamaican singer Bob Marley and Jamaican-American singer and rapper Sean Kingston sings a mix of reggae, rap, R&B and hip hop in what he says is his own way of making the continent, Africa come through in percussion and pronunciation. His goal is to create a brand that is super strong and positive in everything they do.
Runtown has been nominated for awards like; The Headies 2014 Next Rated Act, 2015 Nigerian Entertainment Awards for Best Pop Artiste, 2015 City People Awards for Artiste Of The Year and has performed at several events including headlining the Machel Monday Concert in Trinidad and Tobago alongside the likes of Pitbull and Lil Jon, The Crop Over Carnival in Barbados, St. Lucia’s Mercury Beach Festival, at a sold -out Concert in Amazura Concert Hall in Queens, NY.
He is endorsed by Adidas and he has a foundation, the RunTown Foundation whose mandate is sending underprivileged African youths to school.
