Oluwole Olumuyiwa Early Life

After having his basic education in Nigeria, Oluwole moved to the United Kingdom. While in the UK, he studied Architecture and City Planning at the University of Manchester from 1949 to 1954 and earned a First Class degree.

Oluwole Olumuyiwa Career

Oluwole served a four-year apprenticeship in such leading offices in Europe as Architects Co-Partnership in London, the offices of Van den Broek and Bakema in Rotterdam, and in the new town developments in Emmen, Holland, and Stevenage, England. He also gained practical training in hospital planning. 

Upon his return to Nigeria, he founded Oluwole Olumuyiwa and Associates in 1960. Among buildings to his credit include Eko Hotel and Suites, Crusader House, Management House, and Teacher's Reference Library, all in Lagos. Other projects include; UAC Housing Developments and Cultural Centre, both also in Lagos.

At the inaugural ceremony of the first Council of The Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) performed on September 19th, 1969 in Lagos by the Federal Commissioner for Works and Housing, Mr. Femi Okunnu, Oluwole was voted the first President of the body.
