Oluwagbemiga Oyebode (known as Gbenga Oyebode) was born on March 30th, 1959 in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. He is a renowned Corporate Lawyer and Co-founder and Chairman of the Management Board at Aluko & Oyebode.

Gbenga grew up in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State where he attended the popular Christ's School. Thereafter, he was admitted to the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in Osun State. He graduated from the institution in 1979 with a Bachelor’s of Laws (LL.B) degree. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1980. Soon afterwards, he moved to the United States where he obtained a Master's of Law (LL.M) degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1982.
Before beginning his own firm, Gbenga worked as a partner with the firm of Ajumogobia, Okeke, Oyebode and Aluko from 1985 to 1992. He also was previously affiliated with the Gulf Oil Company (Lagos and Houston) and White & Case (New York). In 1193, he co-founded Aluko & Oyebode with Bankole Olumide Aluko (SAN).
As Managing Partner, he coordinates the various practice areas of the Firm. In addition to his managerial role, he heads the Firm’s corporate and energy practice areas and also serves the Chairman on the Management Board. Gbenga has extensive experience in corporate and commercial practice, in the negotiation of complex commercial agreements for a wide variety of transactions, and has a special emphasis on the following areas: Corporate and Commercial, Banking and Corporate Finance, Energy and Natural Resources, Privatization & Foreign Investment, Technology and Telecommunications.
Gbenga is a member of the following bodies; Fellow Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Nigerian Bar Association, American Bar Association, American Society of International Law and International Bar Association, Council Member, Section on Energy and Natural Resources Law. He also owns a minority shareholding in MTN Nigeria, and sits on the company’s board. He was the former chairman of Access Bank PLC and the current chairman of Okomu Oil and Crusade Insurance.
Gbenga is married to Aisha Muhammed-Oyebode and they are blessed with children. He lives in Lagos.
