Simdul Shagaya was born in Nigeria in 1976 to John Nazip Shagaya and Pauline Shagaya from Plateau State. He is an e-commerce frontrunner with Konga. He is also a serial entrepreneur and a vastly experienced tech professional, with over 10 years experience in new media and investment banking. Shagaya attended the Nigerian Military School and also served in the Nigerian. He later moved to the United States where he studied at George Washington University and obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Electrical Engineering. He proceeded to obtain a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from Dartmouth College. He also obtained an MBA from Harvard University, Boston Massachusetts in 2003.
Sim began his career with Rand Merchant Bank in South Africa. He thereafter worked with Google and moved back to Nigeria when he was appoined head of Google in Africa. He was involved in setting up big websites such as Alarena, Jobclan, Gbogbo and iNollywood. In 2005, he founded E-Motion, a billboard advertising business located in Lagos.
He founded DealDey in 2011 after successfully convincing the board of E-Motion to invest in it. On July 3rd 2012 he founded Konga.com Online Shopping Limited. He had to rely on capital from an outside source though and the Swedish investment firm- Kinnevik provided the needed capital. He also serves as a Director of E-Motion Advertising Limited and GoMyWay. He is a member of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria.
