Hon Dr. Chukwuemeka Ujam was born on March 6th, 1974 in London, UK to Chief & Engr Mrs Nwafor Ujam of Nkanu, Enugu State, Nigeria. He is an engineer and politician. He serves member representing Nkanu East/West Federal Constituency of Enugu State in the House of Representatives.

Hon. Ujam had his secondary education at Federal Government College, Enugu. He graduated with a Senior School Certificate in 1991. Thereafter, he proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering in 1997. He further obtained a Master's degree in Management in IT from King's College, University of London, UK in 2001. In 2008, he earned a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Electronics Engineering: Biometrics & Security from the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK.
Hon. Ujam began his career in telecommunications technology where he held many senior engineering positions in several major UK telecoms and security organizations as well as board level responsibility in IT startup organizations. He is an expert in the area of biometric systems, biometric algorithms and the synthesis of an individual’s distinct physiological and behavioural characteristics. Additionally, his expertise covers the security design, deployment and management of IT networks.
Positions he has held include Security Technical Architect at Metropolitan Police Service, Head, Technical Solution at Serco Trusted Borders (eBorders), Lead Technical Design Authority and Technical Architect at Atos Origin UK and Senior Technical Designer (Design, Security, Strategy and Data) at BT Global Services. He constantly sets policy and direction within the industry and has managed projects and teams in mission-critical infrastructures.
With a PhD in Biometrics and Security, an MSc (Hons) in Enterprise Information Systems and a BEng (Hons) in Electronic Engineering, he has significant trainings in network design, implementation, and support and has a granular understanding of IT, Biometrics and communications as a whole.
In 2011, Hon. Ujam was appointed as Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development Enugu State under the leadership of the then Governor Sullivan Chime. He worked across the public and private sector lines to develop, craft and reform the administration of Land to serve the people and businesses in Enugu effectively. He reduced the administrative complexities in the Ministry of Lands & Urban Development, Enugu by embracing and instituting the use of information technology in land administration.
In 2015, he was elected under the platform of the People's Democratic Party as member representing Nkanu East/West Federal Constituency of Enugu State in the present 8th National Assembly. He is the deputy chairman House Committee on Telecommunication. Other committees he belongs to include; Defense, Electoral Matters & Political Party Matters, Niger Delta Development Commission, Youth Development, and Housing. He focuses on communication, youth empowerment, purposeful and effective representation.
Hon. Ujam is happily married to Nnoyelum Ujam, and they are blessed with two lovely daughters and two sons.
