Senator Umaru Ibrahim Kurfi was born in 1952 in Kurfi, Katsina State. He is the senator representing Katsina Central Senatorial zone.

He attended Katsina Government College where he obtained his WASC and then proceded to Ahmadu Bello Univeristy(ABU) Zaria, where he obtained an Ordinary National Diploma(OND) in 1976. He then travelled to the United Kingdom and attended the City University London, where he obtained a Masters in Business Administration.

Kurfi Umaru Career

Prior to becoming a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, Kurfi worked with NICON Insurance in a career that spanned 30 years divided between 20 years in Nigeria and 10 years in United Kingdom. He rose through the ranks from an Assistant Manager position to General Manager.

He was elected into the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011.

In the 2015 elections, he contested for the Katsina Central senatorial seat and won on the platform of the All Progressive Congress(APC).
