Onyinye Wilfred Ndidi, known as Wilfred Ndidi was born on December 16th, 1996 in Lagos, Nigeria. He is the first of three kids, with two sisters, son of a serving military man in the Nigerian Army and a mother who is a trader. Ndidi is a professional footballer who plays for as a mildfielder for English team Leicester City F.C. and the Nigrian national team. On his arrival in Belgium to play for Genk, he was taken in by foster parents, Theo and Marleen van Vlierden. He stayed with them until his departure for Leicester City 18months later.

Ndidi grew up playing with guys above his age group and he attributes his toughness on the ball to the knocks he received from the older players growing up. He grew up at the Military Cantonment in Ikeja, Lagos and started playing football at the Command Children School before proceeding to the Nath Academy where he also played. He won numerous accolades while at Nath Boys. Although his father who is a millitary man did not want him to play football, but follow in his steps, Ndidi persevered and had his breakthrough as a teenager.

Ndidi played with the Nath until 2015 and won numerous awards. He played as a striker, and then he changed his position to central defence. On January 15, 2015, Ndidi signed to KRC Genk with the transfer fee of €180 thousand and made his debut against Charleroi replacing Jane Vrijsen. Ndidi later scored a long-range goal over Club Brugge and named the goal of the season in the Belgian League. In the 2015-16 season, he was honored with the third-best young player in the Belgian League. Ndidi scored 4 goals in 61 appearances before leaving the club in 2017. On January 3, 2017, Ndidi signed a five-year contract with Leicester with the transfer fee €17.60 million and made his debut for the club against Everton on January 7, 2017, in the FA Cup. Ndidi's first Premier League match came on January 14, 2017, against Chelsea. He got his first red card against Crystal Palace on his birthday of 2017.

Ndidi appeared at two U-20 World Cups for Nigeria. First in 2013 and then in 2015 in New Zealand. On both occasions, the Flying Eagles failed to go beyond the Round of 16 stages. He then called up to the First Nigeria team in October 2015 and made his competitive debut against DR Congo. Three days later, he played as a substitute replacing John Obi Mikel in the 3-0 win against Cameroon. He was named in the 35-man provisional squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
