Adekola grew up in Abeokuta where he attended Saint John RCM primary school and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. After completing his primary school education, he proceeded to Saint Peter’s College also in Abeokuta and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate. He further attended Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta and graduated with a national diploma certificate.

Adekola started acting at a very tender age. According to him, whenever any anniversary was to hold in his church, he and his friend named Tunde would request to play jesters, and this request was always granted. He would then write a “script” for a comedy play involving just two characters.

He began his professional career in 1996. That same year he joined the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners and was under the tutelage of the late Nollywood actor and producer Isola Durojaiye also known as Alasari. He has acted, scripted, produced and directed in several Yoruba films over the years which include Omo Colonel, Aroba, Oro, Sunday Dagboru, Monday omo adugbo, Taxi Driver: Oko Ashewo, Eku Meji, Kurukuru, Sunday gboku gboku, Adura, etc. In December 2015, he marked his entrance into the Nigerian music industry.

A prolific movie producer, Adekola is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Odunlade Adekola Film Production. Through his production company, he has been able to produce several movies in Nigeria. The most notable movie he has produced is “Adebayo Aremu” which he also acted in as a lead character.
