Ali Nuhu Mohammed was born in Maiduguri, Borno state, Nigeria on March 15th, 1974. He is a Nigerian actor, producer and director.

Originally from Gombe, Ali grew up in Kano. His father’s name is Nuhu Poloma, from Balanga town in Gombe state, Nigeria while his mother, Fatima Karderam Digema, is from Bama village in Borno state, Nigeria.
He started his Primary School Education in Riga Special Primary School and went to Government Secondary Commercial School, Airport Road, Kano to attain his Junior Secondary School Certificate. He continued his education in Science Secondary School, Dawakin Tofa, where he obtained his Senior Secondary School Leaving Certificate. He graduated from the University of Jos, Nigeria, where he received a Bsc in Geography. and had his National Youth Service in Ibadan, Oyo State.
After completing his one year national service, Ali Nuhu attended University of Southern California where he read a course in Film Production and Cinematic Arts. He joined the Hausa movie industry (Kannywood which has its headquarters in Kano) in 1999 as an actor and appeared in over 160 Hausa movies, after which he joined Nollywood and acted in over 110 Nollywood movies. He acts in both Hausa and English movies and is sometimes called the “King of Kannywood” by the media.
In his quest to gain more knowledge in film production, Ali traveled to India and participated in a film training program at the Asian School of Media Studies in Noida, New Delhi, India. He has been proclaimed as one of the most decorated actor in the Hausa Cinema and however declared as the King of Kannywood. Ali Nuhu has acted in more than 100 Nollywood movies which include Sitanda, Nasibi, Last Flight to Abuja, Blood and Henna, Confusion Na Wa, Banana Island Ghost, amongst others.
Ali is married to Maimuna Ali Nuhu and they have two children namely Fatima Ali Nuhu and Ahmad Ali Nuhu. He is currently one of the richest and most influential actor in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $1 million.
Ali Nuhu has won over twenty movie academy awards. Some of them include The Best Upcoming Actor Award at the 3rd Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2007, also in 2008, 2011 and 2013. He has also been nominated for The Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards and won Best Actor in a film at the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He has also won the City People Entertainment Award for Face of Kannywood of the Year.
