Pharm. Matthew Aisagbonriodion Urhoghide (FPSN) was born on August 8, 1955, to Late Pa. Daniel Ediagbonya Urhoghide and Madam Rebecca Avanrenren Urhoghide (nee Obasohan). He is a Nigerian politician and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Edo South Senatorial District.
Aisagbonriodion Urhoghide is 69 years old.
Matthew Urhoghide had his secondary education at Eghosa Grammar School, Benin City, Edo State and proceeded to the University of Benin, where he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy.
Prior to his becoming a senator, Matthew Urhoghide, a pharmacist, was the chairman of the Management Board of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Ile-Ife, Osun State. He is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.
He defected the Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) to the PDP and in the 2015 elections he contested for and won the senatorial seat for Edo South. His election was however challenged at the Election Tribunal by his rivals but he was successfully cleared and confirmed by the court.
He is currently the Chairman, Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism.
