Joshua Chibi Dariye, Ex-Governor and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was born on July 27, 1957 at Horop, Mushere, in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. He is an indigene of Plateau State and represents Plateau Central Senatorial District.

Senator Joshua Chibi Dariye has a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy as well as an MBA and another Masters in Law and Diplomacy.
Joshua Dariye prior to venturing into politics worked in various capacities in the private sector, including Chief Inspector, Lion Bank, Jos; Chief Accountant, Plateau Publishing Company Ltd, Jos; Audit Manager, PKF Chartered Accountants, Jos, Plateau State; Assistant General Manager Finance, Benue Cement Company Plc, Gboko; General Manager Finance and Administration, Benue Cement Company Plc., Gboko. He was also a Principal Partner, Joshua Dariye & Co. (Chartered Accountants), Jos, Plateau State.
He took over as Governor of Plateau State, Nigeria on May 29, 1999 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected for another four-year term beginning from May 2003.
In early October 2006, eight of the twenty-four state assembly members issued an impeachment notice against Dariye. In his defence, he stated that the notice was invalid as the eight did not form a quorum of the assembly. He was however impeached from office in November 2006.
Following his impeachment, his deputy, Michael Botmang, became the new Governor. He appealed his impeachment and an appeals court ordered his reinstatement as Governor. The Plateau State Government thereafter announced its intention to appeal to the Supreme Court.
In April 27, 2007, the Supreme Court rejected the appeal of the Plateau State Government and ordered the reinstatement of Joshua Dariye with immediate effect.
After his return, his term of office as Governor of Plateau State, ended on 29 May 2007.
He was a strong activist for the election of President Olusegun Obasanjo of the People Democratic Party at its Primaries in 1999 and re-election of Obasanjo in 2003.
At the regional level, he chaired the forum of State Governors of Nigeria from the North.
In the April 2011 elections, he was elected Senator for the Central Plateau under the platform of the Labour Party thereby defeating Dawuda Gowon of the PDP, the younger brother of former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon..
Just prior to the 2015 elections, Joshua Dariye defected to the All Progressive Congress(APC) and thereafter contested for the Plateau Central Senatorial seat and won.
Senator Joshua Dariye Chibi is married and blessed with four children.
