Dickson Paul Etuhu was born in the city of Kano, Nigeria on June 8th, 1982. He is a professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder and has featured for several Premier League clubs including Sunderland and Fulham, and Swedish top-league club AIK Solna.
Dickson Etuhu is 42 years old.
Born in the ancient city of Kano, Etuhu played around the streets of the city beating a tyre to roll it and selling things. Growing up with four brothers, Etuhu and his brother Kelvin, who is also a professional footballer, were considered as "the athletes in the family". His family moved to England when he was seven. His sister had cancer and could not get adequate medical treatment in Nigeria. His mother was travelling back and forth to London, and the family moved over there to be near her during her lattter days. Unfortunately, she passed away. He grew up in Peckham, South London and attended Saint Thomas the Apostle boys school. But then, the family moved to Manchester following professional ambitions with City.
After two years with Manchester City, Etuhu signed for Preston North End in 2002 for 300,000 pounds and Norwich City in 2006 for 450,000 pounds. Then, his game began to improve and he caught the attention of Sunderland scouts who signed him his first big deal at 1.5 million pounds during the summer window of 2007. By August 2008, he signed another 1.5 million pounds with Fulham. He relishes the experience he garnered at the Europa Cup final on May 12th, 2010, in a game Fulham lost to Spanish saide Atletico Madrid. It is experience that has increased his boldness to play at the highest level. On August 3rd 2012, he joined Blackburn Rovers on a four year deal for an undisclosed fee. The contact was however terminated two years later due injuries which prevented him from playing. A month later he signed a two year contract with Swedish side, AIK of Allsvenskan. In August 2017, he joined Swedish fifth division IFK Rossjoholm, whose coach said they do not pay their players. According to coach Johan Svensson his players are not on any salary and rather they offered for the club free. Experts believe that Etuhu may only be trying to regain match fitness at the club before he joins a top league club.
Etuhu made his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in 2007. He made his comptitive international debut in the African Cup of Nations in January 2008. He was also part the Nigerian squad for the 2010 World Cup held in South Africa.
On Novermber 1st, 2015, Etuhu was arrested in Sweden after allegedly being involved in a scuffle with security guards and police officers outside a night club. In October 2017, he was questioned by police in Sweden about a conspiracy to fix a Swedish top-flight game in May,
Etuhu is a family man. He is married to Chinyere – she is not Nigerian originally, but was given the name by the midwife who gave birth to her. They have a son named Zacci Etuhu. He hopes to return to Nigeria after retirement and start up a foundation to help the children in the country with their education.
His net worth is not available.
