Michael grew up in Lagos. As a 5 year old, he played soccer with friends, un-intimidated by the bigger boys. At the age of 8, he was recruited to join the youth academy club in Lagos. Recognizably smaller than most of the kids in his age group, Michael eventually got recognized by a bigger football academy, Water FC, where he was groomed to become a professional.

In 2010, Michael moved to Heartland FC of Owerri. At the age of 19, he left Heartland and signed for FC Kryvbas of Ukraine. He became a star in Ukraine after scoring his first goal against FC Chornomorets Odesa, scoring 2 goals at will for the team which led his club to stay in the Ukrainian Premier League from 2010 to 2013 before the club went bankrupt. In 2012-2013 he set a record for most goals to assist in a calendar year and has scored 6 goals in total at the Ukrainian Premier League from 2010-2015. He later went on a free transfer to FC Volyn. He also played for FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Raja Casablanca in 2015 and 2016 respectively. On 31 May 2016 he joined Qatar SC in the Qatar stars league.

Michael has played several games for the U-17 and the U-20. He was invited a couple of times to the Nigeria National Team, and later played in the FIFA confederation cup Brazil 2013 and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Michael says he dreams of some day playing for Catalan giants, FC Barcelona.
