Korede Bello, born Oluwakorede Bello is a Nigerian Songwriter, Instrumentalist and Singer. He was born on the 29th of February, 1996 (currently aged 22) and hails from Lagos state, Nigeria. He was signed to one of the biggest record labels in Africa owned by Don Jazzy, known as Mavins records in February, 2014 and is still with them till date. He is popular for his national hit single, ‘Godwin’, a mix of gospel and pop genres, which was released in January, 2015 and his international hit, ‘Do like that’, which was released in September, 2016.

He was born in Lagos state and there, he completed his primary and secondary education. For his tertiary education, he studied Mass Communication at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and recently graduated with a distinction in April, 2018 as shared on his IG page. He currently holds a National Diploma certificate and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Information Management. He has said his parents were the ones who inspired him to love music as he grew up listening to diverse songs which were played at his home. His father liked traditional music, while his mother liked foreign music.

He started his music career at the young age of 7, performing by the stage name, ‘African Prince’. He formed a music group with one of his friends while in primary school and wrote his first song at that time. It is said that he used to dance, take part in singing contests and represent his school in music-related competitions. He recorded and released his first single, ‘Forever’ while still in secondary school. He was introduced to Don Jazzy by his manager, Chris Uwaegbute after the release of his first single which gathered positive interests. Don Jazzy was impressed with his talent and on 28 February, 2014, he was signed under the Mavins Record label and has since produced many songs such as ‘Godwin’, ‘African Princess’ featuring Don Jazzy, ‘Adaobi’, ‘Mungo park’ and many others. He was also featured on the Mavins All Stars song titled, ‘Dorobucci’. He has mentioned Asa and 2face Idibia as people he draws his inspiration from and with well over 2 million active followers on social media, he has a booming fan base known as the ‘Bellovers’.

His name ‘Korede’ means ‘Bringer of good tidings’. His religion is still unconfirmed, even though some reports have it that he is a Christian. He has an older brother who is currently unknown and a sister named Jasmine Bello who is also in the Music industry because she loves singing and has been singing since she was a child too. In 2014, he was nominated for Most Promising Music Act to Watch at Nigeria Teen Choice Awards 2014, which he won.
In 2015, he was nominated for three awards: two nominations at Nigeria Entertainment Awards in 2015 for Hottest Single of The Year and Best New Act and one nomination for Best Song of the Year, which he won at the 4th Annual Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards.
He was nominated for three nominations (Best Pop Single, Song of The Year and Next Rated) at The Headies in 2015 and won Best Pop Single nomination.
