Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna boy was born on the 2nd of July, 1991 to Mr & Mrs Ogulu in a teaching hospital in the oil-rich area of Mbiama, Ahoada West LGA, Port-Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state, which equally doubles as his place of origin. He is a Nigerian songwriter, singer and dancer, with his music genre as a fusion of Afrobeats, reggae and RnB.

He grew up in Port Harcourt where he was born and later relocated to Lagos state. He had his primary education in Montessori International School and his secondary education in Corona High School, Agbara, Lagos state. He eventually moved on to attending University in London, UK. Burna boy's passion for music was inspired by his grandfather, Benson Idons who used to be Fela Anikulapo Kuti's manager. His twin brother named Jesse, is also in the music industry.
He came to limelight following the release of his song, 'Abeg Abeg abeg', before his hit single, ‘Like to Party’ in May, 2012. He has released many other songs after this and some of his well-known tracks include, ‘Tonight’, ‘Yawa dey’ and ‘Run my race’. He has received many nominations and won some awards during the course of his music career.
He has been involved in different scandals since his rise to fame. Recently, there have been media reports that he is currently being investigated for conspiracy in the robbery of his fellow Port-harcourt born singer, Abiye Jumbo aka Mr 2kay. However, despite every scandal he’s been involved in, it is impossible to ignore his boundless talent as he is a challenging personality in the music industry.
