Oladapo Olaitan known as Da Grin, Barack O'Grin, Lyrical Werre, Fi mi le jo, Omo Ogun, Omo Onite and Akogun by his fans was born to Mrs Olaonipekun who was the second of three wives on October 21, 1987 in Ogun state, Nigeria.

He attended Merian Community Primary School, Roselle Nursery and Primary School before going on to Merian Community High School and Egbado College. He did not go on to further his education due to financial and family issues. He did study at a Computer Institution in Lagos State before deciding to invest his time and effort into Music which he was passionate about.

Da Grin only released two albums before he passed. These were: 'Still on the matter' and the widely acclaimed C.E.O (Chief Executive Omo-ita) after which he signed to his own label Missofunyin Entertainment which was managed by Edlyne Records. He had an unreleased track titled "If I die". He was nominated for the Artiste of the year award at the Hip Hop World Awards, 2010.

The rapper died at the age of 22 on April 22, 2010 at Lagos State Teaching Hospital from wounds sustained in a ghastly vehicle accident. Although Da Grin is dead, he lives on in the hearts of his fans as many years after his demise, they still remember him fondly for the artful way in which he blended his native language, Yoruba with English Language while rapping and the way his songs touch upon ethnicity and pride while surviving the streets of Lagos.
