He went to Federal Government College Odogbolu in Lagos, Nigeria before going on to the University of Port-harcourt where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Geology.

He grew up listening to the likes of Onyeka Onwenu, Salif Keita, Youssou N'Dour, Mieway, Koffi Olomide, and Sunny Ade and he cites Jay-Z, Nas, The Notorious B.I.G., Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur and Dr. Dre as his musical influences.

M trill first real single was titled ‘Bounce’ and it enjoyed massive airplay in Port Harcourt getting him signed to Grafton records. On October 17, 2008 he released his debut studio album 'Number One' under Grafton Records with distribution by Afrobest Productions. In 2009, he was named as one of the hot acts to watch out for by Punch Newspapers and in 2012, Trill linked up with fellow Nigerian artist, Slim Burna and the pair recorded a song called 'Oya Na' which was later released in May that same year.

In 2013, M-Trill teamed up with an up-and-coming rapper known as Rraz. The duo which go by the name SSS (South South Syndicate) began working on a collaborative project. Their first single 'Fastlanes' has Trilla and Rraz rapping over 'Eminem and Royce 5'9′s single. It was mixed with additional productions by Charlie X and Sean Stan.

M-Trills’ was one of the speakers at the TEDx Port Harcourt Alternate Verse event. In the talk, he encouraged 'creatives' to think about their business as a trade as it was no longer enough to release an album as an artist. He is not just an award winning rapper, he is also an advocate for cancer and sickle-cell patients and an entrepreneur.
