Olayiwola Olabanji Kokumo popularly called by his stage name Koker was born and brought up in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Koker is the second child in a large family and is from Ogun state, Nigeria.

He had is primary and secondary education in Lagos and graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in Creative Arts in the year 2015.
Koker started singing as the age of 14 but his career started officially while he was in the University where he had a number of remarkable ventures in the Unilag music scene and participated in composing and performing the official theme song of the Unilag.
In 2012, he composed four songs for the Eko sports festival at Tafawa Belewa square Lagos island.
In 2013, he recorded the hook for Pryse in his hit single ” Eleto ” at LAMP house studios.
He gained local recognition when he released “Do Something” which was produced by Mex in December 2015 after signing a record deal with Chocolate City in thesame year. He was featured on Chocolate City’s 2015 compilation album, The Indestructible Choc Boi Nation.
The big break in his career happened in January 2016 when he released “Kolewerk” which has remained his major hit song. “Kolewerk” was a club bangar that was massively accepted and topped charts for several months.

In 2016, he signed an endorsement deal with Cloud 9, an online music streaming company based in Nigeria.
He put an end to the rumours suggesting that he was no longer with the label by asserting that he was still in fact very much with the label, Chocolate city.
