Ukeje Okechukwu Edward a.k.a Mr Raw, formerly known as ‘Nigga Raw’ was born into the family of Elder & Ezinne Michael Udeje Ndukwe on November 1, 1975 in Achara Layout, Enugu. He is from Ebem Ohafia in Abia state.

He picked an interest in music when he was still in the secondary school, listening to rap songs and miming to them.

Mr Raw attended Robinson Primary school in Uwani, Enugu state before proceeding to Akunanaw Boys Secondary School in Achara Layout, Enugu and from there, going on to study Business Administration and Management in Institute of Managment and Technology (IMT), Enugu.

Mr Raw's music career started fully in March 2002 when he won the Eastern Leg of Benson and Hedge, he was crowned the Best Upcoming Artiste in Nigeria after a fierce rap battle with opponents from different states of the country. On August 7, 2005, he released his debut studio album 'Right and Wrong' which had hit singles like 'Obodo' and 'Hip Hop Gyration' which climbed to number one on the MTV music charts. He started a new record label, Raw Deal Entertainment in thesame year.

He released his second album, 'Everything Remains Raw' in 2007 and received massive airplays in clubs, radio and television.

In 2010, he released his third album, 'End of Discussion' with hit singles like 'O! Chukwu' with a video that went on to get him an award at the NMVA and then in 2012, he released 'The Greatest'

He influenced the likes of Phyno, Ibliss, Hype MC, Slow Dogg and other top Nigerian indigenous rappers that rap in igbo language.

Apart from music, Mr Raw is an importer.

He changed his name from 'Nigga Raw' to just 'Raw' to make his music accessible to his international fans who could not find his songs easily because the 'Nigga' in his name was censored. 'NIGGA' to Mr Raw was however not thesame as the American's Nigga but an Acronym for 'That Nigerian Guy Anakpo Raw' which means 'That Nigerian Guy they call Raw' in English.

In 2009, Mr Raw got married and after five years, had a son that he named, Chizaram ekpere.
