Ahmed Musa Biography / Profile

Ahmed Musa was born on October 14th, 1992 in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. His mother, Sarah Moses, hails from Afuze, Edo state and his father from Maiduguri, Borno State. He is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for Russian club CSKA Moscow, on loan from English team Leicester City, and the Nigeria national team.

Born to a polygamous family, Musa's mother is a Christian and his father who died when he was very young, a Muslim. His mother was the second wife to his late father. The death of his father meant his mother had to raise Musa and his four sisters alone.  Musa began his started playing football at a very early age and in 2008 he joined GBS Football Academy. He spent two years at the Jos Academy.

In September 2007, a local publication in Jos featured Musa on its Undiscovered Talent column. In 2008, he was loaned to JUTH F.C. where he played 18 games, scoring four goals in his first two professional seasons for the Healers. He was subsequently loaned to Kano Pillars F.C., in the 2009–10 season where he set the league record scoring multiple crucial goals as Pillars finished second. Musa held the record for the highest goals ever scored in one season in the history of the Nigeria Premier League until November 2011 when Jude Aneke of Kaduna United F.C. set a new record of 20 goals.

After his success at the Nigerian clubs, he was transferred to Eredivisie division team, VVV-Venloin 2010.  He made his debut for the team against FC  Groningen on 30 October. During his time with the Dutch club, he was awarded  AIT Football player of the year in Nigeria. His impressive performance attracted the teams of Europe such as Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax FC. However, he signed with Russian club, CSKA Moscow, in January 2012. He was a highly successful player at Russian club as his side went on to win Russian League in the 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2015/16 seasons, and the Russian Cup in 2013 and 2014. He scored freely at CSKA Moscow and was a top goal scorer and was listed among best 33 football players of Russian Championship in 2012/13.

His attractive style of play caught the notice of English Premier League side,  Leicester City who signed the Nigerian striker in 2016  for a club record transfer fee of $ 23.5 million (£16.6 million). He made his premier league debut against Hull City on 13 August 2016 and scored his first goal for premier league side against Crystal Palace on 22 October 2016. On 30 January 2018, Musa returned to CSKA Moscow on loan for the remainder of the 2017–18 season.

Ahmed Musa has represented Nigeria in the FIFA U-20 World Cup held at Colombia in 2011 where he scored three goals in the tournament and was nominated for the Golden Ball Award. He made his debut for the senior team against Madagascar during 2012 African Cup of Nations Qualifier on 5 August  2010 at the age of 17 and scored his first international goal against Kenya in a friendly match in March 2011. Musa, along with Nigerian players such as Ogenyi Onazi, Victor  Moses, and John Obi Mikel, was among the crucial players that helped Nigeria to win 2013 African Cup of Nation. He played at FIFA World Cup 2014 and scored two goals against tournament favorite Argentina in a 3-2 defeat.  He has scored 13 goals in 67 caps for Nigeria

A pracising Muslim, Musa married Juliet Ejue in 2017 after divorcing his former spouse Jamila Musa. Ahmed Musa has two children with his former wife, Halima Musa (Daughter) and Ahmed Musa Junior (Son). It was reported that Juliet Ejue was the cause the separation between Musa and Jamila.

He also got into a legal trouble with the British law when he was arrested for domestic violence for allegedly beating his wife, Jamila, in their London home. Musa's annual salary is around $3 million, with $43,000 as his weekly wage. His net worth is estimated to be $12 million. His current market value is estimated to be $18 million. He is having a great time in his life and enjoy and spends lavishly in building houses in his hometown of Jos in Nigeria. He is reported to own a fleet of luxurious cars like Honda and Range Rover. He has set up a petrol station as well as a fitness sports center in Kano.

Musa won the 2009/2010 season top scorer award in the Nigerian league. In the 2012–13, he was the Russian Cup Top Scorer, and in 2014, he appeared on the CAF Team of the Year. After winning the African Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles in 2013, he was awarded the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) by former president Goodluck Jonathan.
