Onome Onokohwomo aka Yung6ix was born and raised in Warri, Ughelli in Delta State. He is the oldest child in a family of five and was born on July 8, 1989.

At Federal Government College, Warri where he had his secondary education, Yung6ix was already engaged in rap battles, forging a relationship with others like him and eventually forming the hip hop group, G squad. Before the rap battles, Yung6ix loved to dance and it was from dancing the songs that he fell in love with music.
He had to defer his admission at Oduduwa University in his second year for a career in music.
As a member of the G squad, he performed at various talent shows in Delta State recording their first single with money for his WAEC lesson fee.
Yung6ix who stated his biggest musical influence as DonJazzy soon relocated to Lagos, releasing the single, "I'm an African" which quickly captured the attention of A&R Gbemi Ereku, who signed him to his 411 Entertainment Company in 2009.
In 2010, he made a cover of "Oleku" which went viral and soon after released "So Far Gone" which was a single off his mixtape, Green Light Green and which featured P. Fizzy and in January 2011, released "Plenty Money" which was also another track off the mixtape.
Yung6ix was described by Nigerian rapper, M.I Abaga as the next best thing in Nigerian Hip-hop after they collaborated on M.I's Illegal Music 2. M.I gave him the moniker, ‘King of the South”,cosigning him.
Following the partnership between 411 Entertainment and Storm Records in 2011, Yung6ix collaborated with Wizkid on "Follow Me", a track off his debut album with video directed by Bobby Boulders. In September 2011, he released another album off his mixtape, "Oh My Gosh" to several nominations and awards with its video featuring cameo appearances from Naeto C, Jesse Jagz, DJ Neptune, and P. Fizzy and on 26th December 2011, he finally released the much awaited mix tape.
In May 2012, he released the second single, "Picking Things" featuring Naeto C and E. Kelly from his debut album, 6'Oclock which was released on 6th February 2014 and featured guest artistes like Phyno, Percy, Da L.E.S, M.I, Ice Prince, Yemi Alade, YQ, and Wizkid. Yung6ix started his own label, "Kash Kamp" in 2013 eventually entering into a partnership with "Trick Billionaire MusiQ" for an opportunity to make his brand worldwide. LK Kuddy is signed to his record label.
He has been nominated for awards like Lyricist on the Roll" and "Best Rap Single" at the Headies Awards in 2012 for "Oh My Gosh", Most Promising Act at the 2012 Nigeria Entertainment Awards, Best Hip Hop Video nomination at the 2013 Nigerian Music Video Awards for "First Class"
