Uzezi Oniko was born on February 17th, 1986 in Lagos, Nigeria. He is a memeber of the Nigerian record producing and songwriting duo, Legendury Beatz. He is also a mix engineer, remixer and disc jockey.

Uzezi Oniko Early Life

Uzezi went to University where he discovered the music production software - fruity loops and spent a lot of time with his brother Okiemute trying to perfect their skills. Their varied and eclectic set of experiences gave Legendury Beatz the ability to understand most types of music from afrobeats to funk, hip-hop etc. which gave birth to a unique sound that is known a the ‘Legendury Beatz’ sound. He later moved abroad where he earned a masters in Business Management at the University of Huddersfield.

The duo were raised on afrobeats, fuji, and all variations of Congolese music from African icons such as Fela Kuti, Lagbaja, Awilo Longomba and Angélique Kidjo. They also had an ear for hip hop, pop and contemporary R&B genres.

Uzezi Oniko alongside his brother, Okiemute Oniko, make up the record producing and songwriting duo of Legendury Beatz, founded in 2009. The two siblings hit limelight in the music industry after producing the critically acclaimed “Azonto” song for multi award winning artist, Wizkid. The duo have produced many songs with vocal contribution from artists such as American rapper Wale, British rapper Tinie Tempah, 2face, IcePrince, Efya, Banky W, Seyi Shay and Chidinma, amongst others.

Their production style is deeply rooted in afrobeat as well as in several other genres, including hip-hop, reggae fusion, moombahton and electro house. They made international headlines in the Nigerian recording industry by producing the critically acclaimed single 'Azonto' and Wizkid's 'Ojuelegba'.

The duo have been noted for their extensive work with Wizkid. They have also been noted for writing and producing a consecutive string of hits. The duo have produced many songs with vocal contribution from artists such as American rapper Wale, British rapper Tinie Tempah, 2face, Ice Prince, Efya, Banky W, Seyi Shay and Chidinma and others.
