Chief Azigbo worked with the United African Company (UAC) in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. After working with UAC, he set up his own mining business and soon became successful in it. He subsequently became one of the richest men in Nigeria during the 1950s. During the Nigerian civil war which began in 1967, he lost his 150 mining factories and other properties which were destroyed by the Nigerian army. This led to him leaving Jos and returning to the Niger Delta. He returned to Jos after the war and re-launched his business but could not recover the same amount of wealth he had before the war. He was later crowned the Olorogun of Okpe Kingdom where he ruled until his death.

Chief Azigbo had many relationships which produced about 18 children among them is Hon. Edesiri Azigbo, a former member of the Federal House of Representatives. He died on July 11th, 1986.
