Olorogun O'tega Emerhor was born on November 25th, 1957, in Evwreni, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. He is a chartered accountant, banker, investor and politician. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Standard Alliance Group.

Emerhor had his early Educated at Ewu Grammar School, Ewu in Delta State between 1975 and 1979. He earned a First Class Hons. Bachelors of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1983. He clinched most of the prizes in the Department of Accountancy and Faculty of Business Administration. He won the Faculty Prize for Best Final Year Student, Lever Brothers' Prize for Best Graduating Student; Dr. C.C. Abebe Prize for Best Final Year Student, Sir Odumegwu Ojukwu's Prize for Best Degree Programme Final Year Student in Business Administration, among others. He thereafter, became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He also trained and worked with Price Waterhouse (now Price Waterhouse Coopers).

Emerhor served as Chief Executive Officer of SA Insurance Plc. and as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Crystal Bank Limited (Standard Trust Bank Limited, now UBA Plc). He serves as the Chairman of Vitamalt Plc and Heroes Group of Companies as well as Executive Vice Chairman of the Standard Alliance Group. 

When Emerhor left the banking sector, moved into insurance. In 1996, he started Standard Alliance Insurance Company. He was the Chairman of Transcorp Hotels Plc. since 2011 until March 2016, and served as the Chairman of the Board of First Atlantic Bank Plc. Emerhor serves as a Vice Chairman of SA Insurance Plc. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc., since October 3rd, 2007. He served as Vice Chairman of Fin Bank Plc., (formerly, First Inland Bank Plc.) and served as its Director until February 10th, 2009. He was a Director at Transcorp Hotels Plc. since 2009 until April 2018.He also served as a Non-executive Director of Nigerian Telecommunications Limited since August 2008.

In 2013, Emerhor contested and lost the Delta Central senatorial by-election in Delta State. He re-contested under the All Progressives Congress in 2015, losing yet again. In January 2018, he was appointed Chairman of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, Kwara State, by President Buhari.

Emerhor has been married to his wife, Rita, for ovr 30 years. The couple lost their 19-year-old son in 2006. He was shot in Lagos while on holiday from school abroad.
