Hon. Asabe Bashir

Hon. Asabe Vilita Bashir was born in 1965. She is an indigene of Gwoza Town in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, Nigeria. She is a project manager, advocate, politician and lawmaker currently representing Damboa/Gwoza/Chibok Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.

Hon. Asabe Bashir Early Life

Hon. Asabe grew up in Maiduguri, Borno State where she had her basic education. In 1984 she received a General Certificate of Examination (GCE) from the Federal Government College (FGC) in Maiduguri, Borno State. From 1984 to 1988, she was a student of Education Studies at the University of Maiduguri where she bagged a Bachelor's degree. She furthered her study in 1992 when she began her master's programme at the University of Maiduguri. She obtained an M.ED in Administration and Planning in 1994. She began her doctorate programme (Ph.D) in 1999 and successfully completed it in 2002 at the University of Maiduguri, Borno State.

Hon. Asabe has worked as a lecturer and project manager in the private and public sector. In 2003, she was elected a member of the Borno State House of Assembly where she served from May 2003 to May 2007. From March 2010 to June 2011, she served as Commissioner of Education in Borno State. She also doubled as the Commissioner of Housing from October 2009 to April 2010. She also served in the ministries of agriculture, poverty and health. In 2015, she elected to the Federal House of Representative to represent Gwoza, Chibok and Damboa Federal Constituencies in Borno State. She is a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and regularly advocates for women and children.
