Hon. Omosede Igbinedion

Hon. (Barr.) Omosede Gabriella Igbinedion was born on May 6th, 1981 to Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion and Lady Cherry Igbinedion of Okada Village, in the present Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. She is a lawyer and politician. She currently represents Ovia North-East and Ovia South-West Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.

Hon. Omosede Igbinedion Early Life

Hon. Igbinedion attended the Igbinedion Education Centre in Benin City, Edo State where she sat for and passed the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) in 1998. She thereafter moved to the United Kingdom where she studied law at the University of Kent and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 2003. In 2005 she obtained a Master's degree in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Westminster. She returned to Nigeria and attended the Nigerian Law School at Victoria Island, Lagos after which she was called to bar in 2007.

In 2015, Hon. Igbinedion was elected into the House of Representatives to represent Ovia North-East and Ovia South-West Constituency under the platform of the People's Democratic Party. Her legislative's interest include women and children advocacy, poverty alleviation, education, and Niger Delta. She is a member of the House Services Committee.

Hon. Igbinedion was married to a Benin Prince, Aven Akenzua, for two years before the marriage crumbled. The wedding which took place with an uncommon colourful royal traditional/church wedding on December 31st, 2008 and January 5th, 2009 respectively produced a baby boy in 2009.

Hon. Igbinedion's father, Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, is the Esama of the Benin Kingdom. Her brother, Lucky, was the governor of Edo State from 1999 to 2003. Another, brother of hers, Charles, was a Local Government Chairman and one time Edo State Commissioner of Education, while yet another, Peter, was the Managing Director of Nigerian Aviation Authority.
