Hon. Ahwinahwi attended Otorere Secondary School in Otorere Olomu, Delta State where he graduated in 1987 with a West African Senior Certificate (WASC). He thereafter attended the University of Lagos and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in History.

Prior to joining politics, Hon. Ahwinahwi worked as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Solivad and Associate, which is major company in the oil & gas sector and marine transportation.

In 2007, Hon. Ahwinahwi was elected into the House of Representatives to represent Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Constituency in the Federal House of Constituency under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected in 2011 and 2015. His legislative interests include drafting of bills and motions, and active interest in oversight function. He is a member of the Defense Committee.
