Hon Shehu Nicholas Garba was born in 1960. He is an indigene of Kafanchan in Jema'a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria. He represents Jema'a/Sanga Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

Hon Shehu attended Rimi College Kaduna where he obtained the West African Senior School Certificate (WASC). He studied Accounting at the University of Ibadan and graduated with a Bachelor's degree. He also obtained a Master’s degree in Banking & Finance from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
Prior to joining politics, Hon Shehu worked in the banking sector. He rose to the position of chairman at Micro Finance & Industrialization Bank in 2008. He left the position in 2011 to run for office.
In 2011 he was elected under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Jema'a/Sanga Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives. During that period, he was a member of several committees such as Education, Banking & Finance, Public Accounting, FCT Area Councils, Millennium Development Goals and Women Affairs.
In 2015 he was re-elected into the House and is a member of the Water Resources Committee. His legislative interests include accounting & bill accountability, entrepreneur and business environment.
