Hon Muhammad Umar Jega was born in 1970. He is an indigene of Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Nigeria. He is an architect, politician and lawmaker representing Gwandu/Aliero/Jega Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.

Hon Jega began his education at Jega Town Primary School, Jega, Kebbi State. He graduated with a First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1972. He proceeded to Government College Sokoto, Sokoto State. He obtained the Senior School Certificate in 1977. He proceeded to the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State where he studied architecture and obtained a Bachelor's degree in 1984. He also obtained a Master's degree in 2002 from the Usman Danfodio University in Sokoto, Sokoto State.
Hon Jega worked as an architect and permanent secretary in the Kebbi State Civil Service. From 2007 to 2011, he was an Honourable Commissioner in the State.
In 2015 he was elected under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to represent Gwandu/Aliero/Jega Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives. His legislative interests include appropriation, poverty and revenue generation. His goal is to reduce wastes in government spending and leakages and to create employment. He is a member of the House Committee on health institutions.
Hon Jega is a devote Muslim. He is happily married and blessed with children.
