Tonto Wigo Charity Dikeh (popularly known as Tonto Dikeh) was born on June 9th, 1985 in Port Harcourt Rivers State. She is a Nigerian actress abd philantropist.

Tonto Dikeh Early Life

Born into a family of Ikwerre tribe, she lost her mother when she was just three, and her other four siblings were left to her father’s care. Tonto was born into a wealthy family and, therefore, had all she wanted while growing up. She also enjoyed parental love. Even though, her mother was no more, she didn’t really miss her (as she once revealed during an interview). After having her primary and secondary education in Port Harcourt, she proceeded to the Rivers State University of Science and Technology where she studied Petrochemical engineering.

Tonto was one of the contestants during for the reality TV show, The next movie star, aimed at discovering prospects for the movie industry. She ended as the first runner up, and from there, she never looked back. She then started hunting for contacts in the movie industry and got what she wanted. Even though she got her big break after becoming first runners-up on the reality show, The Next Movie Star, her second movie titled Holy Cross is what persuaded producers and directors to start casting her in more productions. This movie is also what made her very popular among her fans. One of the most controversial movies in Nollywood , Dirty Secret, was actually based on a true story and Tonto agreed to act in it after meeting the girl who inspired the writing and production of this film. 

Nicknamed Poko, Tontolet and Mama King by her fans, Tonto's exemplary performance early granted her many subsequent proposals to feature in more movies. This marked the beginning of her success story. Other movies in which the star actress has since featured to date include: Tea or coffee (2006), Pounds and dollars (2006), Missing rib (2007), Final hour (2007) and Divine grace (2007).

After enjoying acting several movies, Tonto decided to try her hand in music though she had once featured in a music video owned by Amaco investments where she and Patience Ozokwor (Mama G) were called to mime the song in an album called "National Moi Moi". She made her debut by releasing singles 'Hi' and 'Itz Ova' feat Snypa. On June 13th, 2014, Pop star D'banj, unveiled Tonto under the artistes with his record label DB Records' LEE family. She announced her departure from DB records in March 2015.

The Nollywood actresses started smoking at the age of 14 and it was no secret in the Nollywood scenes that she was a chain smoker. However, after prayers with T.B Joshua, the pastor of The Synagogue, she confessed that she had quit the habit. 

Tonto has been linked romantically to a lot of superstars including Iyanya, Wizkid and 2Face . However at the ELOY Awards she made an entrance flanked by Sexy Steel and Michael Awolaja. Michael is the man behind all of the customized Rolex and diamond iPhones that Tonto rocks. In her acceptance speech she said that he was her boyfriend keeping in line with the high-flying men she has been associated with. 2face Idibia’s Unforgettable concert got tongues wagging, thanks to a rather racy performance with Tonto Dike. The performance was released by Flytime TV showing the two getting hot and heavy.

In August 2015 Tonto traditionally married Oladunni Churchill, a nephew of ex-president, Olusgun Obasanjo. By February 2016, she welcomed her first child, Andre Omodayo Churchill. After a rough marriage, in June 2017, the couple separated with Churchill finally fulfilling his threat of annulling his troubled marriage to his wife. The publicity-loving entrepreneur, in company of his uncle, Bishop Dare, met with Tonto ‘s father, Sunny Dikeh, in Port Harcourt to retrieve the bride price. Tonto celebrated the final dissolution of her marriage in an Instagram post which simply read, “The joy was indescribable.”

She has had a raging feud with another famous actress; Mercy Johnson which reports say is due to demand. Mercy Johnson had taken time off to give birth to her daughter Purity during which time, it seems that Tonto Dike raked in the bucks. After Johnson’s return reports say that the already present rivalry escalated, with Tonto taking a stab at her and her husband. This led to backlash, but it’s safe to say that she has developed a tough skin for the critics.

On a sad note, Tonto revealed that she had attempted suicide. She later wrote on a social page about it encouraging people to talk to God about their problems if they have no one else and that people are bigger than their pains and problems and that suicide is for cowards. Tonto is a big fan of body arts and has a large tattoo on her back which caused controversy with people saying that it had an illuminati element to it. She also has 57 letters tattooed on her body, 57 stars and 570 lines and curves as well. She admits to being in love with her body and showed off her back tattoo to the world on her Twitter page. 

The light-skinned diva has admitted to bleaching her skin but says the key is in doing it right to avoid the health implication. She gave her reason for bleaching as wanting to enhance her skin’s lightness as she likes being fair. However, many believe this was an attempt to make her more eligible for movie roles. According to her, she was and is still a born agin Christian and attends Mountain of Fire Ministry.

In April 2018, she was honoured with the Peace Ambassador Awards by the Niger-Delta Peace Ambassador Initiative an organisation that promotes peace and integration.
