Sunday Mba Early Life

Mba grew up in Aba, and joined the Youth set-up of Enyimba FC. In 2007, he moved to Enugu Rangers FC.

Sunday Mba Career

Mba rejoined Enyimba for the 2007/2008 season. He moved backed to Rangers in 2008 before joining Dolphins of Port Harcourt in 2009. In 2010, he joined Delta State side, Warri Wolves, from where he joined Rangers again on loan in May 2013. He scored in his Rangers' debut, a 3–1 loss to Clube Recreativo Desportivo do Libolo in the 2013 CAF Champions League He signed for Bastia in December 2014 after a drawn-out negotiation that lasted most of the year. In 2015, he signed for Turkish side,Yeni Malatyaspor. He left in 2017 and haven't played for any club ever since.

Mba was a member of the Nigeria B team that won the 2010 WAFU Nations Cup. He made his senior debut in the Eagles' 0–0 tie against Angola in January 2012. He scored a brace against Liberia in his next game. He was called up to Nigeria's 23-man squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. Mba scored the winning goal in Nigeria's 2–1 quarter-final win over Côte d'Ivoire. On February 10, 2013, in the final against Burkina Faso, he scored the only goal of the game, to hand Nigeria their third Africa Cup of Nations title. He was also selected for Nigeria's squad at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup. He has featured a total of 21 times for Nigeria scoring 5 goals.

Mba is a devout Christian. In December 2016, he completed a multi-million mansion in his hometown, Aba, Abia State.

Sunday Mba Awards

After winning the African Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles in 2013, he was awarded the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) by former president Goodluck Jonathan. He also received the Man of the Match Award after scoring the winning goal in the final.
