Lukman Abdulkarim Haruna was born December 4th, 1990 in Lagos, Nigeria. He is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Palanga, Lithuania and the Nigerian national team.

Lukman started playing football from the ghetto. He was raised in the Ojodu area of Lagos where his career unofficially began. He grew up in a family comprising seven children, six boys and one girl. His father was a footballer and a coach, though he did not play in the top flight of football clubs. His father was supportive of his decision to be a footballer. Lukman recalls his dad taking him to buy his first football shoes at the popular Lagos second-hand market, Katangwar. As a youth, he trained at the Global Crystal Academy, Lagos.
In December 2007, Lukman joined the juniors of AS Monaco, before signing a professional contract with the French side on 25 May 2009. On 1 March 2009, Lukman celebrated his first-team debut for AS Monaco. During his two-year spell at the club he made 44 league appearances and netted 3 goals. Following Monaco’s drop to Ligue 2 after the 2010/2011 season, Lukman was transferred to Dynamo Kyiv for a €2 million fee, sealing a 5-year contract with the Ukrainian club on 26 June 2011. He is known for his brilliant dribbling, clever movement and accurate passes. In July 2015, he moved to FC Anzhi Makhachkala on a loan deal from Dynamo Kyiv until the end of 2015. Anzhi decided not to extend the loan after it ended. On 3 April 2016, he joined FC Astana on loan until 30 June 2016. After trials with FK Vardar, RC Lens and Odense Boldklub, Haruna joined Lithuanian A Lyga club FK Palanga in March 2018.
Lukman has played for Nigeria since the age of 17. Together with the national squad he won the 2007 U-17 World Cup. On 6 December 2008 he was selected for the 2009 African Youth Championship. Lukman was invited to the senior national squad for the 2010 World Cup. He scored his debut goal for the national team in a friendly game against Colombia on 30 May 2010.
Lukman is a fan of Arsenal and Real Madrid football clubs. He was once a musician but dropped it for football. He is married to Susu Moreira and together thy have a daughter. Lukman also has two other daughters from a past relationship.
