Anthony Okpotu was born on March 3rd, 1994 in Makurdi, Benue State. He is a professional footballer and plays in the striking role for Lobi Stars and the Nigerian national team.

Okpotu was brought up in Makurdi. He attended Government Scienceand Technical College, Markudi.
Okpotu began with the youth team of Lobi Stars and was promoted to the first team in 2012. In 2013, he joined Al-Ittihad Tripoli of Libya. He signed a two-and-a-half-year deal valued at about $360,000 (N59,000,000) with the 16-time Libyan champions. He is the first player from the Lobi Stars youth system to make a transition overseas. Okpotu left after a year due to unpaid wages. The dispute with the club got as far as the FIFA arbitration. He rejoined Lobi Stars in 2015.
He made his international debut for Nigeria at the Championship for African Nations (CHAN) in Morocco in 2018 where Nigeria finished second.
Okpotu is married and has a baby girl.
In 2017, Okpotu won the Nigeria Professional Football League top scorer award netting 19 times.
