Andrew Dosunmu was born as Waheed Andrew Dosunmu in Lagos, Nigeria. He is a popular Nigerian renowned photographer and director based in the United States of America. His works have earned a lot of recognition over the years.

He has lived most of his life in New York. He left Nigeria when he was much younger. He always had interest in fashion and pictures generally. He taught himself the art of photography.
Andrew’s career began in Paris at the fashion house of Yves Saint Laurent where he worked as a design assistant. After a while, he became a creative director where he made outstanding album covers for artists like Erykah Badu and Public Enemy. He worked as a fashion photographer and excelled at it. His photographs appeared in several international magazines.
As a result of his prolific work, he was requested to speak at the TED Global conference. He has worked on a lot of commercials for print advertising. Recently, he was chosen to take part in the photography exhibition Snap Judgements: New Positions in Contemporary Photography held out the International Center of Photography. He is an international contributing photographer for several publications. He has also directed several films which include the 2011 drama film titled Restless City and Mother of George in 2013.
Dosunmu has directed groundbreaking videos for Maxwell (“Matrimony”), Manic Street Preachers (“Let Robson Sing”), Angie Stone (“No More Rain”), Porno for Pyros (“100 Ways”) and Common (“The 6th Sense). “If revolution was a movie, Andrew Dosunmu would be its theme music,” Common told a writer in 2003. “A reactionary by nature, Dosunmu instinctively thinks outside the box and is intensely passionate about shaking things up.”
Still, while all of Dosunmu’s videos are quite memorable, the man himself especially treasures his collaborations with Guru. “I worked with him a few different times. We did a video for the Jazzmatazz project (“Feel The Music”), a track with him and Kalis (“Supa Love”) and I shot him for Paper magazine. That was my boy, my brother and an amazing man; he was a very cool.”
Andrew Dosunmu is married and is blessed with two lovely children. Although they reside in New York they return to Nigeria occasionally.
