Prince Jide Kosoko was born on January 12th, 1954 in Lagos, Nigeria to the Kosoko royal family of Lagos Island. He is a veteran Nigerian actor and producer.

Kosoko grew up in Lagos and studied business administration at Yaba College of Technology. He began acting from a tender age.
Kosoko was one of the founding members of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners. He became an executive member under the late Hubert Ogunde. He started out as PRO and rose to become the president of the Assocation. He commenced his acting career in 1964 at the age of 10-years in a television production, Makanjuola. He produced the Nollywood film titled Asiri Nla in 1992. He has featured in several Nollywood movies of both English and Yoruba Genres. The movies include; The Figurine released in 2009, I’ll Take My Chances released in 2011, Last Flight to Abuja released in 2012 and The Department released in 2015.
Kosoko has also worked with prominent entertainment stars like Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Desmond Elliot, Ini Edo, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Sam Loco Efe, Majid Michel, OC Ukeje and Jim Ikeye to mention a few. He mentioned in an interview that the Nigerian actor, Papa Hubert Ogunde inspired him to be an actor. He also mentioned that the things he considers before accepting a role ranges from the quality of the scripts to the producer of the film. He is one of the few Nigerian who have been able to participate both in Yoruba and English films. He has worked with prominent entertainment stars in the industry. There is no doubt that he is an authority in the film industry and a role model to many actresses and actors.
Kosoko has been married four times. He is currently married to Nollywood actress, Henrietta Kosoko and Alhaja Kareemat Kosoko. They both are blessed with children including Sola Kosoko, Bidemi Kosoko, and Tunji Kosoko and grandchildren such as Oluwasindara Abina. He lost his first and second wife to untimely death few years back.
Kosoko revealed that he loves dogs and he has several of them in his house. He is currently one of the ambassadors of Western Lotto along with the likes of Olu Jacobs, Zack Orji, Ramsey Nouah, Alex Usifo, Osita Iheme, 2face, Olamide and AY.
Kosoko is a recipient of the City People Movie Lifetime Achievement Award.
