Helen Paul Early Life

Helen Paul didn’t have it all rosy as a child. She grew up with her mother and grandmother in Lagos. She attended Omiyade Primary school. Due to issues relating to funding, Helen went through 3 different secondary schools which include Jibowu high School, Maryland High School, and Bejide Memorial College. She couldn’t afford the university fees, and so she got a job instead as a receptionist.
She later was able to afford her fees and applied to study Theatre Arts at the University of Lagos.
Even at school, her jovial and bubbly nature couldn’t be overlooked.

Helen Paul Career

Helen Paul worked at Eko Reelmix Studios as a back-up and voiceover artiste. She also did jingles for popular companies like Peak Milk, Indomie Noodles, Cowbell Milk and a few others. As a fresh undergraduate, Helen Paul attended a program, and unfortunately for the organizers, their planned Mc failed to show up leaving them in utter confusion. Helen’s friends, knowing what she was capable of, talked her into standing in place for the missing Mc. Helen obliged and saved the day to the surprise of the organizers.  It was then she realized that she had a storehouse of untapped potentials and she rose up to explore.

Helen has worked as both a freelance and full-time presenter at several media houses, both in Nigeria and for international purposes. She rose to limelight when she became the comic voice for a radio program known as Wetin Dey. This program caught the attention of a lot of listeners because she was able to perfectly mimic the voice of a child, and she was trashing societal issues in the country in an astonishing way. She is also known for her programs on Lagos Television (LTV 8), Continental Broadcasting Service (CBS), MNet (as a co-presenter on Africa Magic Channel 114's "JARA"), amongst others.

In July 2012, Helen released her debut album, Welcome Party, because of her interest in singing. She has also opened 3 other outlets in different parts of Lagos. She also opened a film and theater academy in 2014, named Helen Paul Theater and Film Academy. The academy is aimed at garnering students with potentials and honing the skills to perfection. The academy has a dance studio, a makeup studio, a recording studio, a rehearsal studio, a photo studio, a mainly digital library, an editing studio, and a hostel for students who enroll for courses in the Academy.
