Dolly Unachukwu was born in Lagos on November 1, 1969 to the late Mr. Cyprain Unachukwu and Mrs. Esther Unachukwu. She is the fourth and first daughter in a family of seven. She is from Amichi in Anambra state.

Dolly attended Ideal girls Primary school and New Era Girls Secondary school, Lagos state, She went on to study phonetics in 1989 at the FRCN Training school Lagos, getting admitted into the Lagos State University in 1990 to study Law. She went on from there to earn a degree in TV productions from TV College Jos.


Dolly Unachukwu Career

Dolly's acting career started at the age of 16 by accident while handling a holiday job at the Nigerian Television Authority, she was asked to cover for someone and the singular action sparked her interest in acting. She became popular for her role in the soap 'Fortunes' where she played Fadeke. In 1986, she stared in movie series like 'Mirror in the Sun', 'Deadly Affair', 'Glamour Girls', 'Love Without' Language’, among many other hit movies after her debut in 'Junior Drama' in 1985 where she acted as a secretary. She is regarded one of the pioneers of Nollywood, a talented actress, writer, producer and film director.

In 1994, she was starred in Chico Ejiro's 'Deadly Affair' which put Permanent on her star status and in the controversial film 'Glamour Girls' which later won the most popular Nigerian film in America in 1995. In 1997, Unachukwu produced her life story, 'Wildest Dream' in which she narrated the ordeal of her first marriage, which crashed in 1994, making her a single parent.

In 2000, she moved to the UK to join her new husband but eventually split with him at the airport after finding out that he had not been truthful to her, instead channeling her stay in the UK into furthering her education, earning a degree in film video productions at East London University, Docklands in 2008. She returned to Nigeria while on break in 2005 to star in the movie, 'The Empire'

Dolly Unachukwu has been divorced two times and she has two children, one from the first marriage and the second from a love affair. She is married to Dr. Olaniyan who she calls her best friend and confidant.
