Yemisi May Odegbami (May7ven) was born on May 7,1984 in Ibadan, Oyo, Nigeria to Segun Odegbami, who is a football legend and Jumoke Tejumola who was an accountant and an ex-athlete. She is the first of three children by her mother.

She had her secondary education at Bodija International School, Ibadan before going on to further her education studying Music, Sound Engineering, Building Surveying and Architecture.
She relocated with her mother and siblings to the U.K when she was six as a result of issues involving her dad and women at the time.
May7ven’s journey into the music world began in church, at the age of 8 she wrote her first song “Change” which she asked to be submitted to Michael Jackson for his album. By the time she was 15, May7ven signed a management deal with Ronald in the UK who had heard her belt down songs at an MTV base concert. She started out as a backup vocal which she did for several notable musicians across the globe including the likes of Mary J Blige, Beverly Knight and Jamelia and has since then worked with the likes of Wayne Marshall, KRS-1, US RnB diva Adina Howard, Horace Brown and Phoebe1 and has gone on to choreograph for established bands.
May7ven who has always been buisness minded, finding new ways to turn her intellectual skills into cash by setting up various business from selling mini perfumes, mobile phones to the 'rich kids', designing and customising clothes for the cool students in school and by the time she was 18 was already selling houses through her own property business so that she could eventually facilitate the process of becoming a recognised recording artist and music mogul. She was determined to raise enough capital to set up a record company, build a recording studio and sign other artists. She has performed for a lot of notable personalities including Marlon Jackson at the La Campaign Tropicana in Lekke, Nigeria, Marlon was so impressed with her performance, he said that she reminded him of his sister, Janet Jackson.
In 2007, she re - created her debut single, 'Hands up' which she co-wrote with songwriter and producer Aeon Manahan and when it was released on May 7, 2008, it topped many charts including becoming No.7 on MTV Base UK and held No.3 on Top Club RnB track and various other charts in Germany, Sweden and Nigeria. Since coming down to Nigeria, she has collaborated with the likes of 2face, Wizkid and Davido among others.
In 2009, she supported Akon in a concert and then went on to land an 18 city tour deal in Africa supported by Globacom, a major telecommunication company in Nigeria, releasing a single, ‘Take off My Clothes/Bo Aso Lara MI’ in thesame year which was a chart topper on the Nigeezy, Ben TV, Music Africa, Hip on TV, Soundcity and Top 10 MTV Base UK, Europe and Africa, Channel. May7ven has been commissioned to write and produce several programmes and theme music for TV and films including the 1st Eko Awards, Abuja Festival and The 1st Annual Gospel Music Awards UK in 2009.
In 2010 she became the executive producer of the DJ Abrantee Show on Sky TV and in March 2011, she performed on the Idols west africa live show in Nigeria where she debuted her 3rd single 'Number' going on to launch her own radio show, City FM 105.1 in thesame year and then in 2012, she released 'Ten Ten'. In 2013, May7ven founded M7 Music Group, Afrobeats Live, CDN Networks, May Zing Hair line and created Afrobeats Search for a Star.
In May 2014, she joined the BringBackOurGirls campaign by doing a collabo with many popular Nigerian artistes in a single titled ‘Sistas Unite’.
She is involved in a lot of charitable acts including setting up theTMACC (The Mathematical African Children's Charity).
May7ven has also been a judge for several television reality shows in Nigeria including the Malta Guiness Street Dance Africa and has been nominated for several awards some of which are
She took the name May7ven because of the power of the number seven in her family which included the fact that she was born on the 7th of May, her father wore the Number 7 jersey when he played professional football, He had seven children, and the second child was born on the 7th as well and was called Mathematical seven.
She is a divorcee with three children and has a tatoo on her arm that says, 'God is Love'.
