Chinedu Ikedieze (popularly known as Aki) was born in Bende, Abia State, Nigeria on December 12th, 1977 to Mr. Michael Ikedieze Ogbonna.

Growing up, Chinedu dreamt of being a doctor or lawyer but all that changed when he caught the acting bug as a teenager after he joined his secondary school’s Dramatic Society.On completion of his secondary school education, he enrolled at the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu State to study Mass Communications. Led by his passion for acting he joined the Institute’s theatre group. As an active member of the group, he took part in several large-scale productions, ceasing the opportunity to make industry contacts and hone his craft.
Armed with an HND in mass communications, Chinedu began auditioning for movie roles. His first big screen feature was in the 1998 movie “Evil Men” in which he had a minor role. He impressed producers with his talent and tenacity and went on to feature in many more movies. However his big break did not come until the 2002 movie Aki na Ukwa, playing the role of Aki opposite Osita Iheme.
Chinedu burst on to the scene in truly dramatic fashion in the 2002 movie Aki na Ukwa. And in less than a decade he has gone on to become one of the most famous actors in Nollywood. Best known for acting alongside his sidekick Osita Iheme, the duo have solidified the name Aki and PawPaw in the Nigerian movie industry. He has featured in over 100 movies, some of which are Aki na Ukwa, World Apart, Jardons, Spanner, Secret Adventure, The Heroes, Soldier Ants, Fifth, Hammer and lots more. He recently co-produced a Hollywood-Nollywood movie “Take the Spotlight” which featured some Hollywood celebrities: Lynn Whitfield n Glenn Morshower, directed by Drew Madueke and shot in Dallas, USA.
Early in his career Chinedu was often typecast in the role of a child, but he has since then displayed his versatility as an actor taking on more mature and dramatic roles after he took a time out and enrolled in the prestigious New York Film Academy (NYFA) in 2004. Going by the moniker Aki, the funny man has become one of Nollywood’s most recognizable faces and a name to reckon with in Nollywood Industry. He currently features in the Family Tv series called The Johnsons, (an Mnet production).
On Saturday, November 26th, 2011, Chinedu got married to Nneoma Ikedieze and are yet to have a child. Nneoma is a graduate of the Needlecraft Couture Fashion School and presently runs her own fashion line called Nikiz.
Chinedu's hobbies include reading, watching football, swimming, travelling and exchanging ideas. He is currently one of the richest and most influential actor in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $3.5million.
Chinedu received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2007 Africa Movie Awards. In 2011, the Federal Government recognised Aki with the national award of Member Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).
