Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe (popularly known as Wande Coal) was born on October 18th, 1985 in Lagos Island, Lagos state, Nigeria, to Chief Ibukun Olufunto and Mrs Omolara Oluwayemisi Ojosipe. The first of two children, Wande is a Nigerian musician, producer, director and entrepreneur.
Wande Coal is 39 years old.
Wande discovered his love for music at an early age and began rehearsing in the teenage choir at his church. He attended primary school education at Staff Nursery and Ijaniki Primary School and proceeded to Federal Government College Lagos for his secondary education. He thereafter enrolled into University of Lagos (Unilag) where he obtained a degree in Curriculum Studies.
Wande was first signed to Mo’Hits Records by Don Jazzy and D’banj in 2006. He came into limelight when he featured in D’banj album titled, Rundaown/Funk You Up. He thereafter, released singlees alongside D’banj such as Loke, Tonosibe and Why Me. As a member of the Mo’ Hits all stars, Wande played a pivotal role in the release of the Mo’Hits popular album, Curriculum Vitae with the first single, Ololufe, turning out to be a major hit nationwide.
In 2009, Wande Coal released his debut studio album, Mushin to Mo’Hits, which was widely received across Nigeria, United Kingdom and the United States of America. He has since collaborated with top Nigerian artists like Ikechukwu, Naeto C, Dr SID, D’Prince, Wizkid, Olamide, Patoranking, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, amongst others.
In 2012 following a fallout between record label executives Don Jazzy and D’banj, Wande Coal, Dr SID and D’Prince signed on to Don Jazzy’s new record label Mavin Records with the addition of Tiwa Savage from 323 entertainment who is currently the first lady of Mavin Records. Wande Coal however, left Marvin Records a year later (2013) and formed his own record label known as Black Diamond Entertainment. In October 2013, he released a hit single called, Baby Face, under his record label.
In 2015, Wande Coal released his second debut studio album titled, Wanted, with hit singles such as Rotate, The Kick, My Way, Baby Hello and Iskaba and Baby Face. Most reviews of his second studio album, Wanted, placed him on a slightly above average scale. He released a new single, Turkey Nla, in December 2017.
In November 2017, the singer wedded his girlfriend, Chinemerem, in a secret traditional wedding held in Lagos. In April 2018, Wande Coal's baby mama, Temitope Ogunnusi, claimed that the singer and his mum abducted her son in 2010 and haven't let her see him since then.
