Rimini Makama Early Life

Rimini grew up in Jos where she attended primary and secondary schools before obtaining a degree in law from the University of Jos. She also studied Law at the Nigerian Law School and an LLM in International Law and World Order. She further obtained a Diploma in Marketing from the London School of Marketing and a Master of Laws from the University of Reading.

Rimini Makama Career

Prior to a career in communications, Makama worked as a Lawyer with the Office of Legal Affairs at the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) in Lyon, France. She is also a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Over the past years, she has successfully wooed some of the largest international institutions on the continent and more into the Nigerian market, simultaneously helping to strategically position them as key players in their industry and encouraging foreign investment in the country. Popular in her clientele are BlackBerry, Union Bank, Renaissance Capital, Bloomberg, Western Union, World Economic Forum Africa, The Africa Union and PayPal. 

In October 2016, Microsoft Nigeria announced the announced the appointment of Rimini as an executive in its senior team. As Corporate Affairs Director, Makama manages the development and implementation of Microsoft’s public policy initiatives throughout Nigeria at national and local levels as they relate to the company’s strategic partnerships with a mission to deliver a regulatory and reputational environment.
