Honourable Ben Nnebedumchukwu Nwankwo was born on September 27th, 1965 in his hometown of Akpujiogu, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. He is an administrator, businessman politician and lawmaker.

Born to Mr. Joseph Nwankwo who was a carpenter, Hon. Nwankwo began his education at Community School Akpu in Anambra State where he earned his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1977. In 1985, he obtained an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mass Communication from the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State. He went on to obtain a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication from the same institution in 1988. In 1992, he obtained his West African Senior Certificate (WAEC) from St. Michael's College, Nimo, Anambra State. He further went for his graduate studies at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu State where he earned a PGD in Public Administration & Local Government in 2002 and MSc. Public Admin & Local Govt.) Public Administration & Local Government in 2004. H was also a president of the National Association of Technology Students (NATS).
From 1988 to 1989, Hon. Nwankwo worked as a Principal Correspondent for Guardian Newspapers during his NYSC in Lagos. He worked as a Principal Consultant, Bentex Communications Ltd, Lagos from 1993 to 1998. He thereafter worked as a Special Adviser to The Governor of Anambra State from 1999 to 2000. He then worked as a Commissioner in Anambra State serving in three different ministries; Works & Transport (2001-2002), Housing & Urban Development (2002-2003) and Finance & Budget (2002-2003).
Hon. Nwankwo twice served in the House of Representatives representing Orumba North/South Federal Constituency (2003 to 2007 & 2011 to 2015), both under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). While in the House, he served as chairman of the House Committee on Culture and Tourism. He was also a member of several other committees such as Police Affairs, Rules and Business, Foreign Affairs, Capital Market, Human Rights, Legislative Agenda, Public Petitions, Emergency and National Disaster Management, and the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA). From 2007 to 2011, he was Chairman of Vision Veritas Limited. He also worked as a Managing Consultant at Leading Edge Academy from 2007 to 2011.
Hon. Nwankwo is a Christian. He is married and blessed with children.
