Hon. Aliyu Muktar

Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara was born on November 22nd, 1966. He is an indigene of Wuyo Town in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, Nigeria. Hon. Betara is the member representing Biu, Kwaya Kusar, Bayo and Shani Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.

Hon. Muktar attended Biu Central Primary School, Borno State and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1978. Thereafter, he proceeded to Biu Central Junior Day Secondary School, Biu and Government Technical Secondary School. He obtained his Senior School Certificate in 1983. In 1986 he obtained an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Business Administration from Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri in Borno State. He furthered his studies at the same institution by obtaining a Higher National Diploma (HND) in 1992.

In 2007, Hon. Muktar was elected to represent Biu, Kwaya Kusar, Bayo and Shani Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives. He was re-elected in 2011 during which he was a member of House Committees on Public Accounts and Special Duties. He was also the Chairman of the Army Committee. In 2015, he was elected for a third term under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC). He currently serves as Chairman of the Defense Committee. His legislative interests include army, appropriation, customs, electoral matters any public accountancy.
