About Kuje Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Kuje local government area is in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Kuje. Towns and villages that make up Kuje LGA include Damakusa, Bugako, Chida, Jeli, Kiyi, Shaji, Lafiya, Tuage, and Rubbochi. The estimated population of Kuje LGA is put at 104,790 inhabitants with the area hosting members of diverse ethnic groups. The Hausa language is one of the spoken languages in Kuje while the religions of Islam and Christianity are widely spoken in the area. Notable landmarks in Kuje LGA include the Government Sec School and the Kuje prisons.


GEOGRAPHY OF KUJE

Kuje LGA covers a total area of 1,644 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 30 degrees centigrade. The LGA experiences two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average humidity level of Kuje LGA is 41 percent while the total precipitation in the area is put at 1250 mm of rainfall per annum.


ECONOMY OF KUJE

Kuje LGA has a vibrant trade sector and hosts the kuje market which holds every four days and offers buyers a plethora of commodities to choose from. Farming is also a key economic venture in Kuje LGA with crops such as onions, potatoes, groundnut and maize grown in the area. Other important economic activities indulged in by the residents of Kuje LGA include crafts making and wood work. Kuje LGA also hosts a number of government establishments, hotels, and banks.
