Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations is the standing Trade Negotiating Team for Nigeria and was established as an Inter-Ministerial Agency of the Federal Government of Nigerian (FGN). On reporting lines, under the ex officio authority of the Honourable Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment of the FGN, with competent jurisdiction, the reports and recommendations of the NOTN on trade policy, including on the results of negotiated and proposed trade agreements, shall be reviewed by the Economic Management Team (EMT), with oversight; following which HM MITI ex officio, shall submit memoranda to the FEC, for decision-making, as appropriate.

The NOTN was established with representation from 9 MDAs, namely: Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI); Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA); Federal Ministry of Finance (FMF); Nigerian Customs Service (NCS); Federal Ministry of Justice (FMOJ); Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning (FMBNP); Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS); Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC); and, National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
