Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) is a top ranking University of technology in Nigeria and indeed the nation's pride. Established in 1981, the university has grown tremendously, stretching its academic disciplines and research across seven different schools and over fourty academic departments.

The University routinely sends students to Florida American and Mechanical University (FAMU), in the USA to complete their undergraduate programmes and pursue Post-graduate degrees as part of student-exchange provisions of an existing collaboration between FUTA and FAMU.   FUTA has similar relationships with some UK, German and Brazilian universities.
