Federal science and Technical College, Uromi was established in 1999 alongside two other colleges, one in Tungbo, Bayelsa State and the other in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State. Credit must be given to Mr. Ibebunjo an Igbo philanthropist who established a Skills Acquisition/Trade Centre in 1963 and handed the school over to his church the Baptist, before leaving Uromi for his home town at the outbreak of the Nigeria Civil War, 1967-1970. Bendel State Government took over the College from the Voluntary Agency and renamed it Uromi Technical College. In 1999, the College became a Federal Unity College and inherited the facilities of the then Uromi Technical College; but the actual take off of the college was Sunday 5th November, 2000. The College started with nine Trades: Motor Vehicle Mechanic Works (MVM), Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM), Radio and Television (Electronics) (RTV), Bricklaying, Block laying and Concreting (BBC), Furniture Making (FM), Catering Craft Practice (CCP), Book-keeping (BKK), Secretarial Studies (SS), Computer Craft Studies (CCS) was included in 2009/2010 academic session, while Welding and Fabrication (WF) Trade, took off in 2010/2011 session. A breath of fresh air was brought to our College and other Technical Colleges with the introduction of the Science component in 2002. However, the College has made giant strides in the delivery of sound science and technical education to the teeming population of students. Presently the College has in addition to the Science component, ten (10) trade areas. The philosophy and objective of setting up the College is to impact knowledge, develop skills and character of students so that they will be efficient, self reliant and useful citizens who can comfortably fit into our today’s world at the end of their studies. The College which is located in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria, occupies a total land mass of ninety-two (92) acres with seventy-two (72) acres in use twenty (20) acres free for future development
